My name is Lila Finnegan. I am a recently graduated senior from Lyons Township High School and a Digital Marketer for the Tabulae Yearbook. My Story
As a digital marketer for Lyons Township’s Tabulae Yearbook, I am tasked with the responsibility of transforming the coverage created within the physical book into a digital medium for students and community members to engage with. Throughout the 2024-2025 school year, the digital marketing staff utilized platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, and student-wide events to celebrate the culture within LT and promote the yearbook as both a product and a community.
The bulk of our social media content can be found on our Instagram (@lttabulae). Through the use of spotlight posts with photos provided by our photographers, promotional graphics, hype videos, and live event coverage, we aim to provide a diverse and engaging experience for all viewers. This past school year, we have increased our viewership to range from 2,000 to 11,000 per spotlight post and 7,000 to 31,000 per reel. We have also seen a nearly 10% increase in followers and an overall increase in post interactions across all content styles.
I joined the digital marketing team as a senior this past fall with my insights set on expanding our audience and influencing the culture of Lyons Township. I had brought in skills from previous social media positions, but in working with the amazing staff at Tabulae I learned to adapt and redirect those skills in ways that uplift the school and better collaborate with other aspects of the yearbook. At Tab, you have the opportunity to engage in all job types, allowing me to not just be the person behind the phone, but the camera and story as well, giving me a well rounded perspective of the creation of the yearbook.
At Tabulae we consider ourselves “LT’s biggest fans.” Whether we are jumping up and down on the sidelines of a basketball game or quietly observing a new teacher for a feature page, it’s our job as yearbook staff to shine light on the four thousand unique and promising students at Lyons Township. LT is home to over 110 clubs, 35 sports teams, and 40 fine arts performances. Each and every one of our amazing students are what make LT the outstanding school it is, and being able to capture their communities, victories, and talents is one of the most rewarding parts of Tab.
However, the more I worked as a yearbook staffer, the more I realized how much of LT's overall atmosphere goes unnoticed by most students. Everyone knew of our football team's record-breaking, undefeated season, but not everyone had heard of the student-run play festival or the radio station's 72-hour broadcast marathon. In response to the under coverage, I set out to make sure that not only the championship teams had a feature on our social media, but the fine arts, clubs, and small communities at LT as well.
After all, Tabulae is a yearbook; its social media should be focused on showcasing the whole year and the whole school. Not just the highlights.
